Maktab Rendah Sains Mara – MRSM, or MARA Junior Science College is a group of boarding schools created by MARA – Majlis Amanah Rakyat, a Malaysian government agency. The institution provides learning facilities for bright students in local schools throughout Malaysia. The first MRSM was established in Seremban in February 1972 with its first intake of 150 pioneering (male only) students from all over Malaysia. MRSM Seremban took in its last batch of students in 1986 and gradually converted into Kolej Mara Seremban officially in February 1994.

MRSM Kuala Krai was officiated by The Sultan of Kelantan Tunku Ismail Petra on 9 June 2003. The MRSM Kuala Krai campus is magnificent on the edge of Kuala Krai-Gua Musang highway, opposite Kampung Rahmat and neighboring Sekolah Maahad (A) Rahmaniah and Kuala Krai District Education Office. As a pioneer, the college community consists of a Principal, two Assistant Principals, an Assistant Senior Administrative Officer, 27 teachers and 10 staff members. The first admission to this college was form 2 students from MRSM Jeli on March 10, 2002. Followed by form 1 students on March 18, 2002 and form 4 students on March 25, 2002.
