SMK Bandar Baru Bangi was built under 3rd Malaysian plan under the Ministry of Education Plan in 1979 and the construction was completed in 1982. The school was fully operated and was handed over on 10th of December 1982 and later new intake for the students on the 1st of January 1983. The construction project was cost about 1 million Ringgit.
