Credit Suisse is one of the world top financial services holding company founded and based in Switzerland. The history began with Swiss railroads in 1856, when the country needed to finance the expansion of its network and (the forerunner of) Credit Suisse (Swiss Credit Institution), was founded. It issued loans that helped create Switzerland’s electrical grid and the European rail system. It also helped develop the country’s currency system and funded entrepreneurship. The finance institution has since turned into an integrated bank operating in over 50 countries around the world.
