The broadcasting of RTM TV2 was began in 17 November 1969 when Malaysia Televisyen (Malaysia TV) (currently known as RTM TV1) split into two channels. It offers local and international entertainment programs, films and dramas. Some elements such as sex and violence are controlled as RTM is one of the government departments. It now transmits opened broadcasting business private 24-hours a day, 7 days a week since 1 January 2007.
RTM TV2 is also available over the Astro direct broadcast satellite platform on channel 102 (formerly on channel 6, later channel 2).

The launch of RTM TV2 as The Family Channel (Saluran Family Anda) was on 1 January 2005, after the rebranding of TV1 that was launched on 1 January 2005 when TV1 was changed to ‘Saluran Infotainmen Anda’ by the former Information Minister, Datuk Paduka Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir.
