Bank Muamalat Indonesia (BMI) founded in 1991 and operated since 1992, is the first commercial bank in Indonesia to implement Islamic Sharia principles. Initiated by the Indonesian Council of Ulamas (MUI) and the Indonesian’s Government. In 1994, BMI has started to provide foreign exchange service.
