Calligraphy Competition: Manifestasi Perdana Seni Khat 2016

The Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM) is expected to hold its 6th National Art Calligraphy Competition in 2016. This competition is continuously held with the aim to further promote the talent of our calligraphers from all walks of life by showcasing their art skills, creativity and creations. To date, the popularity of the competition have been proven that Malaysians, young or old, from different backgrounds, are open to the idea and keen to pursue this beneficial hobby to become a professional calligrapher.

The competition will be divided into three (3) main categories:

Category A – Traditional Art Calligraphy Spontaneous on Paper:

Participants for this category are given three (3) hours and required to write their art calligraphy at the very moment.

Category B – Traditional Calligraphy Painting on Canvas:

Participants for this category are required to write all calligraphy styles from the three (4) calligraphy styles given (Riq’ah, Thuluth, Diwani Jali or Naskh).
All artworks by participants are required to be submitted to Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia

Category C – Contemporary Calligraphy Painting on Canvas

Participants for this category may choose calligraphy styles other than as mentioned in Category B. For example, Kufi or Diwani.

The competition is open to adults and students residing in Malaysia. Winners will receive total combined cash prizes of more than RM35,000, Certificates of Participation and a trophy.
